Building Up Your Core Muscles

Strengthing your core muscles is one of the best things you can do for back pain. Your body is held in correct posture by your core muscles. Without the strength needed, you won’t be able to stand correctly and will have foot, knee, lower back, and shoulder pain. No one really likes to have these problems plague them. Here are a few tips to really help you strengthen your core.

An exercise ball can be one of your best friends. You can really build your muscles with some basic workout routines. Simply sitting on the ball and lifting a small amount of weight over your head with a dumb bell is a great way to tone your core. Sitting on the ball causes you to constantly stabilize yourself. You can also do sit ups while on the ball. Lean back as far as possible and then slowly sit up. You will work your core quite a bit doing this. As you gain strength, you can use the ball to do pushups with by placing your feet on the ball and pushing up. This is quite challenging an will take some practice to get right, but your core will get a great workout from it.

Those who find that too intense can check out pilates, tai chi, or yoga. All three of these can be low impact but very good for your core muscles. These focus on balance and correct posture. The more you do, the stronger your core becomes with time. There are a number of wonderful dvds on this topic. Some great vidoes are Tai Chi for Health, the Yoga for Beginners, andPilates for Beginners. These make great introductions to each exercise.

Although chiropractics and pain relievers can help backaches ultimately strengthening your core is a great approach to deal with it. Ultimately strengthening your core will never hurt your over all health, just be aware of your physical limitations and get working on that core.
