Having A Great Movie Night With Your Spouse
As a married couple, it can be easy to get “into a routine” with certain things, and while there are definitely areas in a marriage where it is beneficial to be in a routine, it is not beneficial to be in a routine when it comes to hanging out together. Most marriage counselors and marriage advice books will encourage you and your spouse to “never stop dating,” and one of the best ways to stay out of the rut of “routine” and to “never stop dating” is to know how to turn a simple movie night into a fun memory!
In order to turn a movie night into a memorable event, the first thing you will want to do is get the kids out of the house; as much as you love your kids, it is sometimes necessary to have a break, and a movie night together is the perfect time to do this! Pick out a movie that the two of you will both be able to enjoy – and if you are planning the night as a surprise for your spouse, err on the side of “them,” picking a movie that you know they will enjoy, even if you will not! Surprising your spouse with dinner is another great way to make the night special; since the two of you will be cuddling up in sweatpants and watching a movie, you will not need to make a fancy dinner, but make something that is tasty, fun, and easy to eat in front of the television! And of course, you should have snacks or a dessert planned, something that the two of you can enjoy together, either during the movie, or after the movie – before the two of you move into the rest of your night together! If you take the wrong approach, a movie night with your spouse will simply be routine; or, if you take the right approach, it can turn into a special night, a memory that the two of you can share together.
